About Nadia Duncan, LCSW

I am here to offer you guidance and compassion in this journey.

I’m an licensed therapist in the state of Colorado, with my office located in central Denver. I provide both in-person and virtual therapy across Colorado and Florida.

I specialize in working with teens and adults in their 20s and 30s. I have extensive advanced training in EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. EMDR is an evidence based approach to treat trauma, anxiety, depression, and more. I also incorporate ego states/IFS/parts work, as well as somatic-attachment approaches. I utilize Dialectical Behavior Therapy, or DBT, in the stabilization part of my work.

I also love working with people in creative ways, such as incorporating art to connect and express emotions. My strongest belief is that the relationship between therapist and client is the most important aspect of the therapeutic process, and my biggest strength is building a strong, trusting, and empathetic relationship with my clients.

I have a passion for working with young adults to navigate the transition to adulthood. I operate from an attachment perspective to help you gain insight into your thoughts and behavior patterns, as well as use EMDR to work through past traumatic or overwhelming experiences that may be affecting you.

I am an ally of the LGBTQIA+ community, and strive and am continually learning how to be antiracist in my practices and daily life.

If you feel I could be a good fit for you, please reach out today to schedule a free consultation. I would be honored to support you in your healing journey.

Have you tried therapy before, and not gotten a lot out of it?

I hear you. And I care about you and your story.

I find that many of my clients have been in and out of therapy during their childhood or early adult years, and felt that they reached all they could get out of just “being listened to.” I offer space for validation and compassion, while also offering gentle guidance towards through the 8 Phases of EMDR to get to the root causes of your symptoms. I want to help make sure you are truly getting all you can out of our work together.

How I work

At the core of my approach to therapy is a belief that our brains and bodies are born with the innate capacity to heal.

When you reach out, we will set up a brief consultation call to make sure it feels like a good fit for you. From there we will schedule your intake appointment.

Your first appointment will be all about getting to know each other. I will ask you about various areas of your life and we’ll join together to identify goals for therapy. If needed, I’ll also assess your symptoms using specialized screeners. From there, we’ll schedule ongoing therapy at the frequency that feels right to both of us. This is usually weekly or every other week to start.

Therapy with me is…

  • Everyone is different, and I am skilled at tailoring my therapeutic approach to meet your needs.

  • I will always be honest with you in therapy, and am always open to hearing feedback about how our work is sitting with you.

  • I am an empath at heart. I genuinely believe in your goodness and ability to heal.

  • My most important goal in therapy is simply to create a space and a relationship where you feel safe, supported, and unjudged.

Your needs matter too.
